Isolated Intimacy
Fine Art Photography SerieS
Isolated Intimacy is a photo series exploring how intimate relationships can grow distant, even when sharing the same space - how tangible isolation from the world can, in turn, create isolation from one another internally. It serves as a window into one of the under-discussed challenges humanity has faced in the recent years of physical isolation, personal separation, and digital intervention.
The pieces in the Isolated Intimacy series try to portray these challenges through suggestive lighting design and metaphoric visual gestures. The photographs capture moments across a spectrum of connection, from when the subjects feel the furthest apart emotionally to when they are most desperately clinging to one another and trying to reconnect.
Isolated Intimacy features 6 pieces: Cohabitation - a triptych, Touch/Screens - a diptych, and four individual photographs - Security Blanket, Water Closet, Warmth, and Closeness.
The series was selected for a solo exhibition in the third floor gallery at A.R.T./NY’s South Oxford Space, which ran from September 2022 to March 2023.
