Sharing Space (2022 - Work In Progress)
Narrative Short Film
Sharing Space is a narrative short film providing a new take on coming-out stories. The script looks inward, focusing on the protagonists’ journey coming to terms with who they are and coming out to themselves through a symbolic standoff with a close friend.
The film follows Louise aka Lou as they struggle to take up space in their own life, feeling smothered by their lifelong friend and "roommate" Jenna - who is really the symbolic personification of their performed femininity. Pushed forward by their other friends & a new love interest, Lou finally tells Jenna to "move out," letting go of that side of themself and accepting their identity as a trans/non-binary person.
The film features Joseph’s long-time collaborators Erin Noll and Ashley Hutchinson in the lead roles, as well as Bianca Rogoff and James Johnston in the supporting roles. Joseph lead the production as writer, director, and cinematographer.
The film is currently in post-production.
